Enderlin, North Dakota EF5 Tornado
The Enderlin tornado ended the United States EF5 drought after NWS Grand Forks reanalyzed the June 20 event with wind-damage experts. The upgrade centered on extraordinary train-car displacement south of Enderlin, violent tree damage, farmstead destruction, and radar velocity evidence.

NWS Grand Forks upgraded Enderlin Tornado #1 after additional surveys and collaboration with wind-damage experts. The analysis focused on fully loaded grain hopper cars, empty tanker cars, a tanker tossed roughly 475.5 feet, KMVX storm-relative velocity data, Maple River tree damage, and farmstead damage.
