Horse Silhouettes

In the brief stillness between them, a small herd of horses played freely across an open field. When they noticed the photographer, their movement slowed and they began taking their places along the ridge. On the right, the herd’s leader stood apart, watching closely and keeping guard. Silhouetted beneath the immense Kansas sky, the horses appear suspended between light and darkness, freedom and uncertainty, calm and the approaching storm. It was an unplanned moment that lasted only briefly—a quiet encounter between the spirit of the land and the power building above it.
